Delivering a medicine straight to the affected area with a weak electric current — needle-free and painless.
Iontophoresis delivers medicines into the tissue by means of a weak electric current. The drug arrives directly at the affected site, which lowers systemic exposure and the risk of side effects.
Advantages
The procedure is entirely painless, the skin is not broken and no needle is required. The medicine accumulates in the area and acts over a longer period. It is used both therapeutically and preventively, and it is widely applied in paediatrics.
Which preparations are used
Aminophylline, novocaine, hyaluronidase, various vitamins and calcium preparations — which one is applied is chosen by the doctor from the complaint. If you are allergic to any preparation, say so in advance.
