Practical
Naftalan treatment exists only in Azerbaijan, in the town of Naftalan; this page covers the visa, the currency, the language and the journey for a guest arriving from abroad.
Naftalan treatment cannot be moved to another country: the field lies in western Azerbaijan and there is no other industrial deposit of this type. So a search for "a Naftalan sanatorium in Azerbaijan" leads, in practice, to one address — the town of Naftalan.
Entry and documents
Citizens of many countries enter Azerbaijan on an electronic visa (ASAN Visa), and some need no visa at all. Check the requirement from an official source before travelling, because the rules change. No separate permission is needed for treatment.
Currency and payment
The currency of settlement is the Azerbaijani manat (AZN). Visa and Mastercard are accepted — if you budget in roubles, tenge or euro, your issuing bank converts at its own rate. We keep no fixed "rouble price", because the rate moves every day. Cash can be exchanged at banks in Ganja and Naftalan.
Language
Consultations and the reception desk work comfortably in Russian, and English is available. Bring your documents — summaries, tests, imaging — in your own language; no translation is required.
The journey
The nearest airport is Ganja (KVD), 60 km away. Baku (GYD) has direct flights from far more cities, and the drive from there is about four hours. Transfers are arranged from either. More: getting to Naftalan.
Prices
A price has two parts — the stay and the treatment; the treatment part is settled after the examination. For a quote and dates, see the offers page or write to us.
