Procedures
A procedure in which the agent is laid as a layer on one chosen area of the body — a local effect, unlike a full bath.
An application means laying naftalan, mud or paraffin on a limited area of the body: a knee, the lower back, a shoulder, a wrist. The agent is warmed, laid on as a layer, covered and left for a set time.
When it is chosen
When the complaint is concentrated in one area, or when a full bath is contraindicated. The load on the body is far lighter, so for guests with cardiovascular limits a doctor often considers this form first.
What to watch for
An application is not laid on broken skin, in acute inflammation or with a fever. The temperature and the duration are set by the doctor.
