Mineral bath

A bath in mineral water carrying salts and trace elements — a procedure separate from naftalan.

A mineral bath is a treatment in water carrying natural salts and trace elements. Unlike the naftalan bath it uses no oil; the effect comes from the mineral content of the water and from its warmth.

What it is prescribed for

Mineral baths are used to ease joint and muscle pain, to settle the nervous system, to support circulation, and within skin programmes. They are also considered for guests who arrive with disturbed sleep or long-standing tension.

Where it sits in a course

It is usually not prescribed on the same day as a naftalan bath — two heat procedures in one day add to the load. The doctor alternates them or places them on rest days. The length of the session and the temperature of the water are set on prescription as well.

When Mineral bath is prescribed

  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Nervous tension, stress and disturbed sleep
  • Support for circulation
  • As a supporting procedure in skin programmes
