Speleotherapy, the ENT procedure and naftalan applications in allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis — what they offer and when they do not fit.

Naftalan is known first for skin and joint treatment, but the resort also has a programme for respiratory complaints. The two conditions people come with most are allergic rhinitis and chronic sinusitis.
Speleotherapy — the salt room
A breathing session in a salt environment. The guest sits in a salt-lined room and breathes quietly; it is a calm, drug-free procedure. It is prescribed as a supporting component in respiratory programmes, sometimes alongside skin programmes. The number and length of sessions is set by the doctor.
The ENT procedure
A sterile tampon with a medicated solution placed in the nasal or ear cavity — a local procedure, carried out only on ENT indication. In chronic sinusitis it can join a programme alongside other treatments.
Where naftalan sits in this group
Naftalan is not applied directly for allergic rhinitis or sinusitis. But these complaints often travel with allergic skin problems — and in those cases the skin programme and the respiratory programme are combined in one schedule. Which is the main component and which the supporting one is the doctor's decision.
What can be expected
The aim is to ease the complaint and support a period of remission. A salt room does not "cure" an allergy and does not replace what your allergist has prescribed, including medication. If exposure to the allergen continues, the effect of any course will be limited.
When it does not fit
Acute infection and fever, bronchial asthma in exacerbation, coughing blood, severe heart or respiratory failure, active tuberculosis. If you have a diagnosis of asthma, say so in advance — the programme is built separately.
Before you travel
Bring the opinion of your allergist or ENT doctor, your allergen test results if you have them, and a list of what you take. Send the documents in advance and we can judge whether the programme suits you before the trip.
